“Suction… scalpel… sugar… no, I want more sugar… MORE! PILE IT ON! THIS IS A SOAP OPERA, DAMMIT!” Alejandra (Maria Conchita Alonso) has dedicated her life to the medical profession in an effort to rise above her hellish humble beginnings in life. After doing a medical internship in the slum areas, she gets a job at the local hospital, run by world famous surgeon Alejandro Antunez (Raúl Xixés). Antunez is shocked to find that the competent medical practitioner working by his side is actually his illegitimate daughter, who only became a doctor to prove that she did not need his help to succeed in life. Blurgh! A made in Venezuela soapie, Alejandra is nothing if not saccharine flavored but it does give us a chance to see the lovely Maria Conchita Alonso working her slinky charm on the screen. Of course, Alonso is famous primarily for three things – having taken a bath with the human hairball himself, Robin Williams, in Moscow on the Hudson (can the last person out of the tub please clear the drain?), and the other two things would be her industrial strength scud nipples. Why scud nipples? Because they’re long and pointy and set to go off but the worst they could do is put out an eye.
