Okay, let’s just get this out of the way early… I’m absolutely smitten with Robyn Lively. Have been since she showed up in an episode of Parker Lewis Can’t Lose back on October 7, 1990 (you know you’ve got a crush when you can name the date you first saw her). She’s my incarnation of the perfect woman. Yes, I know she wouldn’t spit on me if I burst into flames but I don’t care. In my own private world, when I put my head on my pillow, Robyn Lively is there, wearing only a cheerleader’s outfit and a smile. And sometimes not even a cheerleader’s outfit. So with all that said, is it any wonder that I loved this series, short-lived as it was? Insurance salesman Ed Clemons (John Terry) has taken on the coaching job for the awful high school football team of Sumpter, Texas. He has one season to turn the team into winners or the job goes to someone else and it’s probably no shock that though his methods are a little unorthodox, he soon has the kids winning games. Feh, who cares about the story? Robyn Lively is in it!!! And some guy called Ben Affleck or something, who has apparently been in a few movies. Might have won an Oscar or two, I dunno. NBC dumped the series halfway through the first season, despite some good critical feedback, then replaced it with the lamentably awful Viper of all things. Did I mention ROBYN LIVELY IS IN IT! Sigh…
