Review

Accidental Love (2015) has one of the most interesting behind the scenes stories of any film in history. Begun in 2008 by director David O. Russell (American Hustle), the film was originally titled Nailed, but financing fell through multiple times, causing actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel to leave the film before it could be finished. It then sat on a shelf for seven years until the film's original producers cobbled together a cut without Russell's permission, causing him to lobby to get his name taken off the film. It was released in this unfinished state, bearing the made-up name of director Stephen Greene, on VOD in February, 2015. Strangely, it also managed to secure a PG-13 rating, a first for a Russell film, likely because he didn't finish the film the way he intended. This means that except for a quick look at Jessica Biel in her bra and undies, there's no actual nudity in the film. It's still worth checking out for the oddity factor, but we wish Biel had been Nailed rather than accidentally falling in love!
