Review

In Absolutely Anything (2015), a group of aliens bestows upon a human man the ability to do absolutely anything. Simon Pegg is their lab subject, and their experiments give him great powers. And with great powers come great responsibilititties. Simon decides he wants to look through his floor and spy on Kate Beckinsale who stands ironing in her bra and undies. That's our favorite way to do chores! She could do Absolutely Anything dressed like that. Overall, this film is almost perfectly absurd, with talking dogs, unpredictable gags, walking turds, accidental child annihilations, and much more! Don't go into Absolutely Anything thinking that you're going to see a Oscar-worthy flick, because this film is anything but. There is also no deep character development or profound script elements. It's just pure funny shenanigans designed to make you laugh. Besides the also awesome Simon Pegg and his impeccable comic timing, you can also see, or hear, Robin Williams doing another post-death cameo as the voice of a dog character, speaking. If you're into smart satire, subtext, and absurdist comedy, you can't do much better than Absolutely Anything. Mr. Skin may not be able to give it as ringing of a recommendation due to its lack of skin-fullness, but there's still plenty here to admire. In the alternate version of the movie, it apparently featured enough language and other debauchery to earn it a much higher rating by the BBFC. Maybe they cut out some nudity that we'll eventually be able to enjoy!?
