A Viagem

Translated as The Voyage, this soap opera doesn’t just take place on this mortal coil, it also takes place in the afterlife. Credit those wacky Brazilians for knowing how to push the envelope just a little bit further every time. First produced in 1975, A Viagem was remade for TV in 1994, starring Cristiane Torloni, Antonio Fagundes, Guilherme Fontes, Nair Bello andLaura Cardoso. It was based on Francisco Cândido Xavier's book on the psychic world called "E a vida continua", or "And life goes on" and the story takes place in two different levels: the earthly level and, after the death of the three main characters, the spiritual level. When these characters die they move on to an otherworldly city called Nosso Lar (Our Home), where they try to make up for the wrongs of their life. Heck, beats the premise of The Bold And The Beautiful, doesn’t it? Cast member Andrea Beltrao took it all off in Pequeno Dicionario Amoroso, revealing one heck of a fine derriere. Or… What would the word be in Portuguese? Bootay.
