Born "Constance Frances Marie Ockelman" in Brooklyn, New York, Veronica Lake went on to become one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood history. She had a troubled childhood — Veronica was expelled from her all-girls Catholic boarding school in Canada and dealt with psychiatric issues in her youth. Lucky for us, Veronica funneled all of those challenges into her acting and made a name for herself onscreen. Her career started in the late 1930s with Sorority House (1939) and lasted well into the mid 1950s. Sadly, Ms. Lake’s heavy drinking brought on complications that caused her death in 1973 at the young age of 50. Her flowing blonde hair inspired a fashion trend that led her to doing a public service announcement during WW2 warning women who were working in defense plants to keep their hair up so it didn’t get caught in the machinery. In addition to acting, she was an active pilot and was one of the inspirations for the cartoon character Jessica Rabbit. Veronica never appeared nude on film, although she was considered a bombshell and a sex symbol of her time. The closest we can get to a real skinworthy scene with Ms. Lake is in Sullivan’s Travels (1941), in which Veronica is in the shower when another woman brings her some towels and a robe. We get the outline of her nude body and a good look at the shape of her chest globes when she presses up against the shower curtain.
