Biography

Born in Puerto Rico when her parents were on vacation, Ari Meyers, born Ariadne, was raised in New York City, and started her acting career early on, appearing as Al Pacino’s stepdaughter Debbie in Author! Author!, when she was 12. After a few TV movies, including License to Kill (1984) with Denzel Washington, she landed her most famous role, as Emma Jane McArdle in the primetime sitcom Kate & Allie, starring Susan Saint James and Jane Curtin. Ari was 15 when she landed the role, and played it from 1984-1988, when she left one season shy of the series end to attend Yale University; she graduated with honors and a double major in philosophy and theatre arts. The brunette cutie did a few big-screen films after school, including Think Big(1989) as Holly Sherwood with Martin Mull; as Kim in Shakma (1990) with Christopher Atkins; as Brock in Dutch with Ed O’Neill and JoBeth Williams; playing Ed Begley Jr.’s daughter in Dark Horse (1992) with Mimi Rogers; as Duff in How to Make an American Quilt (1995) with Winona Ryder and Ellen Burstyn; and Kitty Green Fiannico in Looking for Kitty (2004) with Connie Britton, and written, directed, and also starring Edward Burns. Ari also racked up more TV credits, popping up in multiple series, and starring in several TV movies, including Confessions: Two Faces of Evil (1994) with Jason Bateman and James Earl Jones, Not Our Son(1995) with Neil Patrick Harris, Unwed Father (1997) with Brian Austin Green, and Family Blessings (1998) with Lynda Carter. She also took a lead role as Nicole Voss in The Killing Secret (1997), and gave good figure in swimsuits and tiny white T-shirts. These days you’re more likely to hear Ari than see her—she has a successful and lucrative career as an audiobook narrator, and has given voice to such best-sellers as We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, The Cookbook Collector by Allegra Goodman, The Taking by Dean Koontz, and Little Threats by Emily Schultz.
