There’s nothing scary about a naked lady.

From the early days of cinema with the popularity of monster movies starring Dracula and Frankenstein, moviegoers have loved getting their pants scared off. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that the pants started coming off for more exciting reasons.

Though grittier, less mainstream movies like The Last House on the Left and Massacre at Central High had been mixing tits and terror for years, Halloween brought nudity in horror movies to the forefront with Sandy Johnson and P.J. A decades-spanning franchise followed, and Friday the 13^th and A Nightmare on Elm Street were soon to follow, with modern series like Hostel and Saw upping the ante with more blood (and more boobs).

But horror encompasses more than just multiplex massacres.
