Closing the Ring (2007)

Renowned filmmaker Sir Richard Attenborough of Gandhi (1982) fame crafts a tale of a love that spans generations in Closing the Ring (2007). The saga begins in 1991 Ireland where Martin McCann (Jimmy Reilly) discovers the wreckage of an American World War II plane. When he sees a gold ring inside, McCann is determined to find its owner. During his search, the audience is introduced to various characters that include Marie Harris (Neve Campbell), Jack Etty (Christopher Plummer), and Eleanor Riley (Brenda Fricker). Through a series of flashbacks, we learn that the ring belonged to fighter pilot Teddy (Stephen Arnell) who wed Ethel (Mischa Barton) the night before his fatal mission. Martin makes his way to Minnesota to return the gold band to the war widow (played in middle-age by Shirley MacLaine), thus bringing closure to a romance cut short by tragedy. If you think that’s cause for a semi happy ending, you’ll get a semi when you see Ms. Barton in action. As young Ethel, she brings an openness to her role that extends way beyond the teensiest bikini scenes of The O.C. (2003-2006). Indeed, the London-born beauty bares her boobs just 27 minutes into the movie! It goes without saying that her pretty peaks pique our interest. And luckily for us, the sexy brunette continues to flash her flesh. We get to see her breasts again 10 minutes later. If that’s not titillating enough, Mischa shows off her delectable derrière. In other words, this English Rose will make you rise!
