Review

The three nuts in the title of 3 Nuts in Search of a Bolt (1964) are actually three poor saps living together in an attempt to save cash. They have nuts, naturally, but in this case the title refers to their neuroses. Since they're so poor, they come up with a scheme to get psychiatric help, that is hire an actor to see the shrink and report back with remedies. Only the doctor is understandably intrigued by the extent of this one man's three personalities, and the case gains national attention, including Hollywood suits clamoring for the rights to bring it to the screen. It's wacky, but it's also whack-worthy thanks to the appearance of Mamie Van Doren as a go-go dancer. The film was produced before the sexual revolution, therefore don't expect heaping helpings of skin. Still, when that flesh belongs to Mamie, it's heaven for he-men!
