We have great news: a lesbian cheerleader movie is coming soon for those of us who are cheering for sexy bouncing babes showing off their pom poms. It sounds like the girls get up close and personal in each other's pom poms in the upcoming film called Backspot starring Evan Rachel Wood, Devery Jacobs, Wendy Crewson, and many more.
Trans actor Elliot Page has become quite the producer lately, producing several films with queer storylines. In the last two years, Elliot Page has been a credited producer (or executive producer) on four films. That's amazing! He's doing great work for those of us who have been dying to see hot lesbian cheerleader action.
D.W. Waterson directed the film that was co-written by D.W. and Joanne Sarazen. D.W. directed a short film version of Backspot in 2017 which was inspired by a viral video of a cheerleading coach that was way too extreme. They have spent time since then developing a feature with Evan Rachel Wood starring as the coach.
Devery Jacobs plays the lead character Riley and she actually did most of her own stunts in the film. As a former gymnast, Devery was thrilled to take this role that shows off her character range as well as her flexibility. We love to see that kind of flexibility! She was thrilled to take this role because she felt that she would have to create a role like this for herself someday. Then D.W. swooped in and cast her!
The plot follows a young woman named Riley who is going to cheer for a very famous squad, the Thunderhawks. Riley struggles with her anxiety and her relationship with her girlfriend as she preps for an upcoming competition and does whatever it takes to earn the approval and affection of her coach.
So will there be nudity? It sounds like we are mostly about to get a ton of skin. We're going to see legs - lots and lots of legs. We are also going to see our starlets in sports bras moving their bodies in seductive ways. What about lesbian sex scenes? Well, maybe not.
We have seen one hot scene between lesbian cheerleaders before. Kate Mara and Sophia Bush have previously gone lez together in an episode of Nip/Tuck. Both babes are in their red cheerleading uniforms as they get on top of each other and start making out. We're cheering for these two to take off their uniforms, but their pleats stay on.
Natasha Lyonne played a lesbian cheerleader in But I'm a Cheerleader, but the focus is on gay conversion therapy rather than competitive cheerleading. She and Clea Duvall made making out look like a sport!
D.W. Waterson has previously said to Entertainment Weekly that “there hasn’t been a queer, female, and non-binary take on competitive cheerleading that also explores the nuance of being a young person who has a ton of energy with nowhere to put it."
